Chanel Beauty Boutique at Caesars Palace

chanel-N18-perfume chanel-la-pausa-perfume chanel-beige-perfumeChanel recently opened a new boutique here in Las Vegas inside the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. It’s the first of it’s kind in the U.S. and they were kind enough to invite me to the grand opening, which was held this past Saturday. This Chanel boutique carries Chanel cosmetics, fragrance, skincare, and sunglasses. The boutique also carries various products exclusive to the boutique; like Les Exclusifs fragrances (pictured above)— fifteen scents inspired by the life of Gabrielle Chanel:

I’ve been using Chanel cosmetics for a decade now and even though I would say I am very familiar with the products, these scents were a new discovery to me. This is a really cool aspect of the new boutique, it allows long time aficionados of the brand to discover and experience something new. When I arrived at the event, I was promptly greeted and paired with a team member to assist me. We decided to do my makeup from beginning to end so that I could experience the new skin care products as well as some new cosmetics. The wonderfully talented Kate Lee came over at the begging of my session to see what we were going to play with. Kate holds the title of CHANEL Celebrity Make-Up Artist and has an impressive list of clients including Keira Knightley and Anne Hathaway. We went over the products we had decided to use and asked her which foundation would be best to use to be photo ready. She recommended the PERFECTION LUMIERE Velvet foundation because of it’s smooth, matte finish and said it looks great on camera.

In all of my excitement I forgot to take a picture of the freshly applied look, but this is it after a few hours after leaving the Chanel boutique. I’m wearing the ILLUSION D’OMBRE Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in “Mirage” on my eyelids. I fell in love with these eyeshadows, they are creamy and wonderfully pigmented. They go on a bit light but you can build to a darker shade. Kate applied the same eyeshadow in “Fantasme” to the inner corner of my eyes for a bit of pop. Lastly, she applied the ROUGE COCO Hydrating Crème Lip Color in “Jean“, which I must say, is very hydrating. It’s a lipstick but it feels almost like a lipgloss when applied.

After finishing my makeup, I asked Kate which foundation she would recommend for everyday wear. I wanted something lightweight with light coverage since I typically just wear a tinted moisturizer. She said the VITALUMIÈRE AQUA foundation is one of her favorites because it gives the skin a refreshed look and has SPF in it, she also recommended applying it with a beauty blender for flawless looking complexion. It was a really fun event and I have to say, Kate is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, she is such a pro and her skin is flawless! I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet her.

I walked out with some new goodies, super excited to come back and buy everything else I tried. However, I recently learned that Chanel tests on animals, and that’s when my heart broke. As of late, I’ve been looking for cruelty-free cosmetics and skin care products. While I still have a lot to learn and a far way to go to completely change the products I use, I’ve started transitioning to cruelty-free EVERYTHING. From cosmetics, to skincare, shampoo, conditioner, and any other personal care products I’ve recently purchased, have been, and will continue to be cruelty-free. I was devastated to learn that the majority of well-known cosmetic brands are not cruelty-free. I’ve been using many of them for so long and never really gave much thought to it.

Given my new stance on Chanel beauty products, I still wanted to share this experience because it was such a unique one. Not may people get the chance to ask Kate Lee for makeup advice and tips so I just wanted to share that. I’ll be sharing more on cruelty-free cosmetics in the future. And the second Chanel cosmetics become cruelty-free, I’ll be the first one running in to buy one of everything. But for now, I have to say so long to my decade-long Chanel purchases.

ELF-2 ELF-4- ELF-3

For those not familiar with e.l.f cosmetics, “e.l.f” is an acronym for eyes, lips, face. They carry makeup, makeup brushes, makeup tools, nail polish, and skin care products. This cosmetics line was founded in 2004 and originally had 13 products. e.l.f now has a much more extensive line with over 300 products available for purchase in 17 countries. Most products cost either $1, $3, or $6. Select items such as makeup and brush sets are available at higher price points but are still very affordable.

I’ve been a fan of e.l.f since day one. Years later and I’m still in love with the products. These newer items, like the setting spray and the undereye setting powder have me amazed. I’m also a big fan of the Studio HD Powder but I didn’t include it in today’s post because I don’t use it everyday. Today’s post includes all of my everyday e.l.f must haves. I’ve been wanting to do an e.lf. makeup review for so long. I’m so excited to finally share this with you all. Let’s begin!

e.l.f Studio Makeup Mist & Set

I never believed in setting sprays. I mean, I believe they exist, I just didn’t believe they worked well. For THE longest time, I had to carry a cream foundation compact and a setting powder compact to reapply throughout the day. I would (and still do) touch my face a lot during the course of the day so my makeup always needed touching up every few hours or so. My skin is also a tad on the oily side. I think this contributed to my makeup not staying on (and in place) for long. This setting spray has changed my life. I’m not overdramatizing either, it truly has changed my life. It sets my makeup perfectly without feeling drying or stiff. And the effects last literally all day. I really love not having to carry two extra compacts in my purse and worrying about touch ups. The spray also helps with creasing problems. This is the best makeup setting spray I’ve ever tried. It’s lightweight, you don’t need to douse yourself  in it (just a bit will do the trick), and it’s lasts all day. Love it!

e.l.f High Definition Undereye Setting Powder

This is another life-changing type product. If you’ve ever wondered how to fix undereye concealer creasing, this powder is for you. It’s a super-fine, slightly shimmery powder. Once applied, it has a velvety finish with the slightest micro-shimmer to reflect light and conceal dark circles. I first apply a corrector to my  under eye area, then a brightening concealer then I set them both with this powder to minimize creasing. It works quite well!

e.l.f Cream Eyeliner

Creamy and richly-pigmented, this potted eyeliner is great. It’s a lightweight formula, glides on smoothly and stays in place. Compared to others of it’s kind, it’s one of the best out there given it’s low price point. This eyeliner comes with a small angled brush. I wasn’t expecting much from the brush but it’s actually pretty great. However, I prefer to use a narrow pointed fine tip brush for applying eyeliner, only because it’s easier for me to draw cat-eye liner with it (which is what I normally wear).

e.l.f Studio Eyebrow Kit

I’ve used eyebrow pencils, creams, gels, and powders from a large variety of cosmetic lines. e.l.f’s Studio Eyebrow Kit is comparable to Benefit’s “Brow Zings”—a long time favorite of mine, and only a fraction of the price. This eyebrow kit comes in three shades. The small compact has a mirror inside and comes with a dual ended brush. One end of the brush is for applying the gel and the other end is perfect for applying the powder. Overall, it’s a great combo and a fantastic find.

ELF-8e.l.f Complexion Brush

I originally bought this brush for applying finishing powder. I now alternate between this and the kabuki brush when applying finishing powder. The denser feel of this brush makes it great for applying heavy bronzer or blush for a dramatic look. Hard lines can be blurred using this brush, it softens and blends them really well. This brush is quite large which makes it ideal for applying bronzer or body shimmer around the neck and décolletage area.

e.l.f Angled Blush Brush

By far my favorite e.l.f brush. The angled design makes it perfect for conturing. It’s dense enough to grab a good amount of color and fluffy enough to gently sweep over the face without leaving harsh lines. On day’s I don’t couture or use bronzer, I use this brush for applying blush. The angled design makes it perfect for creating a naturally flushed look.

e.l.f Blush Brush

I’ve taken to using this brush for applying undereye powder. The diamond shaped design makes it easy to sweep the undereye area. It’s also great for gently blending color without spreading it out more like a round brush would.

e.l.f Retractable Lip Brush

This is is a pretty standard lip brush. It works as well as any other but again, with the low price point, it’s hard to beat. To use it, take the cap off and place it on the opposite end, this pushes the bristle part out and locks it in place. When you remove the cap, the bristle part retracts.

e.l.f Kabuki Face Brush

Super fluffy and lightweight brush. This kabuki brush is perfect for applying finishing powder and for blending. It gently buffs away excess powder leaving just the right amount on and it perfectly blends bronzer for a flawless finish. This brush is a tough competitor for other kabuki brushes on the market.

I added a few more photos of the brushes below so you could get a better look and feel of the brush quality, density, and size.

Jewelry Inspiration

This look from the Chanel Spring 2015 Couture show was on my mind all day after I saw the show. I couldn’t get it out of my head so I decided to make something I could wear that reminded me of it. I used a variety of semi precious gemstones including various tones of jade and pastel yellow chalcedony to make these earrings. You may notice they are not identical but that was done intentionally. I  chose all pastels to resemble the overall look of the garment but I used different shapes of stones to create a bit of juxtaposition. Tiny onyx beads were added sparingly to match the ratio of pastel to black as seen in Chanel’s look.

I’ve been wanting to add DIY projects to the blog but haven’t thought of the right thing to start with. Jewelry is a good place to start I think. Creating something like these earrings can seem a bit complicated but it’s actually really simple once you learn a few basic tips. I’m excited to share these for now but next time I’ll add step by step details on how to make them. My favorite part about jewelry making is that you can design and personalize everything in great detail so that you end up with exactly what you want. It’s honestly harder to think of a design than it is to make a piece of jewelry. If you haven’t seen the Chanel show, check it out here.

MIDI-SKIRT-2 MIDI-SKIRT-3 MIDI-SKIRT-7 MIDI-SKIRT-8 MIDI-SKIRT-1Pencil skirts are a wardrobe essential. There is so much you can do with them. Until recently, I’d been using my H & M pencil skirt which I’ve shot many times here, here, here, here and here. I love that skirt, it was so inexpensive and very comfy. It’s now too faded to wear with silk blouses and other elevated elements so I only wear it with nude ballet flats and comfy tops. It surprises me how much use I got out of it give the low price point. However, now that it’s faded I had to look for a new midi pencil skirt. This time I searched for a material that won’t easily fade so I went with a rayon/nylon blend fabric. I also wanted something really soft, with a bit of stretch, and no waistband. I found this gorgeous Vince Camuto skirt and I’m super happy with it. It’s ridiculously soft and very comfortable.

Another new find, is the red lip gloss I’m wearing. I don’t really wear lip gloss often but an updo really calls for glossy lips so I put on the new Chanel lip gloss in “Pirate”. This gloss is rich in vitamin E which really hydrates the lips, and the color is stunning! Also wearing Nars velvet lip liner in “Nihiwatu”.

Wearing Vince Camuto skirt, Rachel Roy top, Guess shoes, Sondra Roberts clutch, Twenty8Twelve coat, DNKY sunglasses (similar here), Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss, and Nars velvet lip liner.

I’m BEYOND excited to be sharing these products with you all today. If you’ve been following along, you know that I love Etsy. The talent found in Etsy shops, like this one, is unbelievable. Today’s natural skin care products come from Etsy shop aostudio9. I can’t decide which product I like best, they are all spectacular and smell divine!

Cake batter foaming sugar scrub

Cake batter is the first thing you smell when you open this product. It’ll make you nostalgic of birthday parties and little colorful paper plates. This foaming sugar scrub has super fine granules that smooth and polish the skin. It’s moisturizing and leaves a slight lingering scent of cake batter. I was worried for a second that the sweet scent of cake batter would stick once washed off and be overwhelming but it isn’t. The scent is light and uplifting. Another big plus for me is that this formula is not greasy. The oils used don’t leave residue in your shower or leave your skin feeling oily. I should also mention that a small amount goes a loooooong way and it lathers really well. I’m so excited about this product, especially since I don’t like animal fat in my beauty products and this one is vegan, and paraben-free.

Vanilla sandalwood foaming sugar scrub

Two of my favorite scents combined! If I created a foaming sugar scrub, this is exactly what I would make. Fine Madagascar vanilla and sensual sandalwood create a magnificent duo that is the perfect scent for fall. This foaming sugar scrub also contains fine granules of sugar and additionally has vanilla beans, and specks of sandalwood. I’m absolutely loving this foaming sugar scrub. It’s moisturizing, lathers really well, and the lovely lingering scent is warming to the nose.

Face mask pellets.

Manuka honey and coconut milk face mask

This little trio is fun and makes a wonderful mask. I instantly thought of what a great gift this would make. The honey and coconut milk are blended in equal parts, with the addition of one tablespoon of warm water. Then drop the face mask pellet into the mix and watch it expand. My skin was so supple and soft after using this mask, I couldn’t stop touching my face! This mask also prepared my skin for a gentle face scrub I used afterward to get rid of some impurities. Love it!

GREEN-BEAUTY-8Wearing Lauren Brooke foundation (in warm NO.20), PRIIA eyeliner (in black) applied with an Earth’s Beauty eyeliner brush, and Anada lipgloss (in Hibiscus).

Natural beauty products you’ll love

In recent weeks I’ve been fastidiously searching for green beauty products as well as green makeup. Coming from a family of holistic medicine practitioners, this search is long overdue. We typically don’t think of eyeliner, foundation, or lip gloss as being natural. It’s well known that makeup products are loaded with chemicals and other ingredients that are not skin friendly. These however, are not and I’m super excited to share them with you all. There’s a multitude of natural beauty products available on the market. I’m filtering through to find the best ones and I can’t wait to share what I’ve found as we move forward. For today, let’s start with these wonderfully affordable green beauty products, all of which can be found on Natural Joy Beauty (promo code below).

GREEN-BEAUTY-4Natural, cruelty-free eyeliner by PRIIA Cosmetics

Natural is not even close to the first word I think of when I look at a pot of black eyeliner. For this reason, I’m really excited share this potted eyeliner by PRIAA Cosmetics that is natural and cruelty-free. Personally, I really like this product. It glides on with the consistency of a liquid liner and is easy to clean up if you make a mistake. The color is a true black and is a fantastic choice for everyday wear. The only down side is that it does smudge the upper eyelid if you apply a wide line. However, this also happens with numerous other potted eyeliners as well. I simply wiped off the top smudge and it didn’t smudge again. This one really stands up well compared to others and, since it’s natural, I’m definitely making the switch!

Joy was also kind enough to send me the eyeliner brush pictured above. I love how thin it is since it allows more room for mistakes when creating a winged line. The thin tip also makes is easier to line in between the lashes which creates the appearance of a thicker lash line. This brush is by Earth’s Beauty and you can find it here.

natural foundation
Lauren Brooke Creme Foundation with SPF 28 in (from left to right): warm NO. 10, warm NO. 20, neutral NO. 30, and neutral NO. 40.

Natural creme foundation with SPF 28 by Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques

This creme foundation is made with organic and non-GMO ingredients including:

  • Coconut oil
  • Radish root oil
  • Argan oil
  • Rosehip oil
  • Green tea extract

It offers medium to full coverage, and has a nice creamy consistency. The clay in this formula was instantly noticeable to me. If you’ve ever applied a clay mask to your face, you’ll recognize the texture as soon as you try this formula. It’s a little different than other formulas you may be used to but it’s wonderful. Once applied, it looks natural and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, which is big plus for me. This is definitely a new favorite!

GREEN-BEAUTY-3 GREEN-BEAUTY-6Natural lip gloss by Pure Anada in “Hibiscus”

I absolutely love this natural lip gloss by Pure Anada. It’s highly pigmented and has serious staying power. It’s also vegan and made with:

  • Natural oils
  • Plant waxes
  • Shea butter

The color is on the darker side but it goes on lighter. This formula is really glossy and perfect for a night out. A gentle blot removes some of the gloss, leaving a hint of shimmer which is perfect for day to day wear as you can see in the center lip photo. This formula also really grabs onto the lips and is hydrating, I don’t know how they do it. Most hydrating emollients I’ve tried usually don’t stay in place and have to be reapplied, so I’m really pleased that this is not the case with this lip gloss. The lip photo on the far right is what remains after several hours of wear, eating, and lots of wiping with a napkin, it leaves a beautiful, natural-looking tint on the lips. This lip gloss should really be labeled as a 3 in 1 since you can get 3 different lip looks from it from glossy glam to a natural tint. This lip gloss and a few other pieces from Natural Joy Beauty are on my stocking stuffers list for this year. I can’t wait to share them with friends and family!

This is my second Birchbox. I signed up last month and absolutely loved October’s box! You can read my review for the October box here. If you’re new to Birchbox, here’s a quick roundup of what you need to know:

It’s a monthly subscription.
Each month they send you a beauty box.
It’s only $10 a month!!! (That’s basically 2 lattes worth, and a Birchbox wont make you fat, just sayin’.  )
Each box contains samples of makeup, perfume, skincare, haircare, and/or other beauty products for you to try.
Some boxes come with travel size and/or full size products!!!
You can customize which categories of beauty you’d like to receive sample from.
You can easily earn tons of points and use them to buy your favorite beauty items from the Birchbox store!
You get points for sharing!
Review a product = 10 points (each box has 4-5 products to review), refer a friend = 50 points, shop = 1 point per $1.
For every 100 points you earn, you get $10.00 to spend in the shop.
Birchbox is also a great way to discover many new brands and try them before committing to a full size!

Every product featured that month ships free when you buy the full size. Additionally, their rewards program is the best! Anyway, let’s get down to it.

My October box included:

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream – 7 ml Value $17.73

This eye cream didn’t really do anything for me. It’s to soothe, brighten, and lift, which I don’t really need help with. However, I do like that it’s 99% natural, the brand is against animal testing, the packaging is recyclable, and the cream has a nice scent because of the lavender, rose, and citrus oils in it. The sample is also a good size and will probably last about 3-4 weeks. Because of the wonderful scent I think I’ll continue to use it to see if I notice any difference.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle – 2 0z (estimate) Value $5.50

I really enjoyed this product, it’s so versatile! I typically use a leave in conditioner and a heat protector on my hair. This formula detangles, conditions, provides heat protection and sun damage protection, and smells great! The scent is vanilla with something else I can’t quite pinpoint but it’s lovely! On top of all those great features, it’s also 100% vegan and suitable for all hair types!

Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set in “Ballerina” – .08 oz Value $1.00

This palette is so pretty. I really liked every shade and think it would work well on any skin tone. Each shade has just the right amount of shimmer to be used during the day or night. They are also pigmented very well, the color goes on true to what you see. The full sized palette looks super pretty. All the colors look wonderful and there’s a good variation to create many looks. I may end up getting this gorgeous palette.

dr. brandt® pores no more® vacuum cleaner™ – .25 oz Value $11.25

I did notice a slight improvement on my pores after a single use. This liquid mask goes on clear and turns blue when it’s ready to be washed off, thought that was pretty neat. My pores did look cleaner and smaller in some areas after a single use. Although big pores and blackheads aren’t a problem for me, I’ll continue using the rest of this sample on a couple spots to see what happens.

ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in “Kitty” FULL SIZE – .13 oz Value $8.00

This product was a let down for me. The front of the lipstick says it’s matte but I have to disagree with this description. It goes on very creamy and feels glossy, however, it doesn’t appear as glossy as it feels. There’s a bit of a shine to it and it does move around a lot. I don’t like these types of matte lipsticks. My favorite matte lipsticks have to stick to the lips, not move around, and have no glossiness whatsoever. The color is nice though, very natural looking and a good everyday color.

Total value: $43.48

Verdict: The value is great and I really like that a full sized product was included but overall this box did not impress. Mainly because I don’t really like the lipstick, don’t need under-eye cream, and don’t really need the blackhead extractor mask. Like many other subscribers, I was really excited for and hoping to get the beauty blender. However, it’s always nice to try new products and being that the point of Birchbox is just that, well, I’m still happy being a subscriber, it’s totally worth the $10 a month.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream – 7 ml Valor $17.73

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle – 2 0z (estimado) Valor $5.50

Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set in “Ballerina” – .08 oz Valor $1.00

dr. brandt® pores no more® vacuum cleaner™ – .25 oz Valor $11.25

The September box included:

TOCCA Eau de Parfum in “Florence” – 1.25 ml $2.00

Birchbox describes this scent as “the epitome of Parisian class and sophistication” and I could not agree more! As soon as I spritzed this on I was instantly reminded of my time in Paris a few years ago so I wasn’t surprised when I read Birchbox’s description of this parfum. It’s elegant, floral, with a bit of a musky quality. Jasmine, ivory gardenia, and tuberose are the most prominent notes to me. I associate such good memories with this scent because gardenia is my grandmother’s favorite scent. I plan on buying the full size bottle of this, when it’s back in stock, that is. Yes, it’s sold out and I’m not surprised at all.

Laura Mercier ‘Full Blown Volume’ Supreme Mascara – .2 oz Value $14.25

This is a great everyday mascara. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t clump or crumble, and coats every eyelash well. Personally, I think the name is a misnomer and I expected too much because of it. It does lengthen the eyelashes and make them noticeable but it’s not for achieving big, extravagant eyelashes.

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream in “Acai Grapefruit” – 22 ml Value $2.93

Personally, I don’t ever use shaving cream, I don’t like it. However, I did give this one a try and I liked it. This formula is thick but goes on thin, gives you a great, close shave and leaves your skin feeling refreshed. I like that it’s made from eco friendly ingredients and a little goes a long way. This sample size will probably render 3-4 uses. A small negative was the scent, it smelled a bit strange to me but it didn’t linger.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel – 5 ml Value $4.80

I love mild chemical peels. I was long overdue for one so it was especially exciting to receive this sample in my first box! You wouldn’t expect much from a 3 minute peel but boy this is a good one. My skin was much softer and supple after just one use. I also love that it helps with acne. This is a must buy as well.

Chapstick “Day & Night” version – 0.15 oz Value $2.99

It’s pretty neat that this version has two sides to it. I tried the “night” side right before heading to the gym, since I typically forget to drink enough water during my workout and my lips tend to get dehydrated too. Earlier today, while we were out in the sun shooting for the blog, I tried the “day” side since it has SPF 12. It’s hard to tell after just one application but I think it worked well. After the shoot, my lips still felt plenty hydrated. We ‘re typically outside in the sun and the extra dry desert wind also tends to dry out my skin so I’m excited to use it again during future shoots.

Harvey Prince Ageless Liquid Loofah – Value $0.75

Wonderful scent! Aptly named, you don’t need to scrub with anything else, just apply and rub with your hand. It leaves your skin feeling pampered and the lovely scent lingers but isn’t overwhelming. This is definitely a must have.

 Bonus items included:

Cynthia Rowley Eyeliner in silver – .03 oz Value $12

Smooth and creamy, goes on like butter. It’s also super pigmented so it goes on really silver! Love it!

Harvey Prince Hello Perfume – 1ml Value $2.95

A refreshing and soothing blend of mandarin, mayer lemon, grapefuit, forsythia,  and plumeria. The boyfriend commented on this one right after I spritzed it on- he loves it. It’s citrus and sweet scent reminds me of summer but the lingering note of plumeria gives it a delicate curve that makes it equally delightful for early Fall. Reminds me of being on vacation.

Total value: $42.67

Verdict: This box is amazing and you need one too. So does your best friend. And get one for your mom. Oh and your sister (or else she’ll say you never think of her). Also, they have boxes for men; great way to politely tell the boyfriend, brother, or dad it’s time to update their grooming routines. Also, also, it’s like a monthly present filled with beauty surprises and unicorns! Ok no unicorns, but yes beauty surprises! 😀

Laura Mercier ‘Full Blown Volume’ Supreme Mascara – 0.2 oz Valor $14.25

Bienes Química luminoso 3-Minute Peel – 5 ml Valor $4.80

Me encanta!

Harvey Prince Hola Perfume – 1 ml Valor $2.95

Beauty-bliss-1 Beauty-bliss-2

Small boxes that open to reveal colorful circles of rouge, highly-pigmented squares of eye shadows in striking hues, and all of the the glossy, rich, lip options, what’s not to like? I’ve loved makeup since before I was old enough to wear it. Most days I typically only wear about 3 things on my face: tinted moisturizer, concealer, and blush. I really dislike the feel of heavy makeup on my face (cake face, anyone?) and not to mention the time it takes to put on the entire list of beauty fixes. Everyone once in a while, however, I do like to throw in a bit of primer, mascara, and eyeliner. It all really depends on what I’m doing that day.

With this in mind, yesterday was spent shopping for new makeup essentials (and the Altuzarra x Target collection pics coming soon!) with my friend Caitlan. On my list of necessities were: primer, foundation, blush, mascara, and lipstick. After scouring every makeup counter at Nordstrom’s at least twice, I picked up a primer, blush, and lipstick. Then we headed to the Bobbi Brown counter and were promptly helped by a lovely lady. She matched a shade of foundation perfectly to my skin tone and gave me several great recommendations and samples. You guys, the Bobbi Brown counter is where it’s at 😉 So helpful!

This is what I decided on:
NARS Pro-Prime Oil Free Pore Refining Primer
A super lightweight but heavy duty primer. It smooths like nobody’s business, think of it like liquid Spanx for your face! It truly minimizes pores and has a matte, satin finish. And I can’t emphasize the lightweight feeling enough. This is a big deal for me since I hate the feeling of piled on makeup.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish SPF 15 Foundation (in 3.5 Warm Beige)
Lightweight liquid foundation with medium to full coverage. This instantly became a favorite of mine. I was amazed at the great coverage you can get from such a lightweight liquid. It still lets your skin breath and feels like you have nothing on.

CHANEL Joues Contraste Powder Blush (in Emotion)
I’ve been using Chanel’s blush for years. Their compacts come with a brush which is quite useful when you want to take it with you for touch ups, and their classic design always draws me back to them. This formula is pigmented just right to give you perfect color with a single swipe without making you look like a hooker.

Bobbi Brown ‘Smokey Eye’ Mascara
Another instant favorite of mine. The brush helps cover every single lash so you’re left with long, full, dark lashes. I was amazed at how much thicker and longer it made my lashes with only a single application; again, lending to the lightweight feeling since you don’t have to put on a lot to get amazing eyelashes. It also separates the eyelashes quite well. I was duly impressed with this mascara!

Clinique Almost Lipstick (in Black Honey)
The name says it all, it’s “almost” lipstick. Very dark in color at first glance but it goes on sheer, giving you a wine-stained lip with a bit of hydration.

NARS Pro-Prime Oil Free Pore Refining Primer
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish SPF 15 Foundation (en 3.5 Warm Beige)

Bobbi Brown ‘Smokey Eye’ Mascara

Summer-Favorites-part-2.2 Summer-Favorites-part-2.3 Summer-Favorites-part-2.7 Summer-Favorites-part-2.5 Summer-Favorites-part-2.4 Summer-Favorites-part-2.1 Summer-Favorites-part-2.6Here, I share with you some of my favorite summer jewelry, LUSH bath bombs, and my favorite fragrance for summer. These gorgeous gold midi rings are made by Etsy seller Clinton Studios. I looked around for a while when looking to purchase midi rings. I’ve seen gold-tone midi rings everywhere and really liked them but I didn’t want to spend an average of $7 per ring for something that would eventually rust. I looked on Etsy and after reading about Clinton and his work (his about page is so cute, his work companions are his two dogs and the neighborhood cat), I decided to purchase from him. I’m in love with these rings, they are stunning. I paid a bit more for them than I would have from say Claire’s but they are worth every penny. They’re are very well made and came in the most adorable packaging. Anyway, it’s starting to sound like a paid advertisement (I wish), which it’s not, but they’re amazing take my word for it. Invest in staple jewelry pieces like these, it’s well worth it in the long run. Click here to check out Clinton Studios and here to read about his shop and his work.

“…his work companions are his two dogs and the neighborhood cat.”

Chance by Chanel has always been a favorite of mine. I wear it everyday during Summer. It’s such a refreshing, bright, and classic scent; it just puts me in a great mood to start the day, this is Chance Eau Tendre. Another summer favorite are these stunning yellow and white gold orchid earrings. They were a gift from my mother, I believe they’re from Singapore if I recall correctly. I’m not very keen of most floral prints when it comes to clothing, so for me, adding a floral detail like this is perfect.

All of the other jewelry pictured including the quartz necklace with pearl detail, chalcedony and citrine earrings, gold lace and garnet earrings, and the jade and Czech glass earrings are pieces I handmade. When I lived in California, there was a great little lapidary nearby that I loved buying from. I got into jewelry making years ago after seeing a book on it with some easy projects. These are actually some of the first pieces I made and I still wear them. Making your own jewelry is really fun and it’s much easier than one would think. Additionally, few tools are required and they’re not too pricey. If you don’t have a lapidary near you, you can find tons of great stones on Etsy.

DIY semiprecious stone neckalce from Martha

Here’s a 6 minute video from Martha Stewart on how to make those beautiful semiprecious stone necklaces picture above.

Last but not least, it would not be Summer without some of my favorite bath bombs from LUSH. I find these three particularly great for Summertime because they are refreshing and invigorating with citrus, honey, and floral notes- what more could you want? These lovelies make for a rich, luxurious, bath that will help you relax and melt your stress away. Pictured above are Sex Bomb, Fizzbanger, and Honey Bee.
