On the first day the temperature hit below 80, I immediately pulled out my boots and cardigans. We’ve been getting a few cold days here and there but its still mainly in the high 80’s here in Las Vegas. I don’t care though, I’m going to wear my boots, cardigans, and all my other fall pieces now even if it means sitting in my living room blasting the A/C. O
On another note, how nice is this double strap, gray satchel? It’s a Givenchy antigona dupe! It comes with a detachable cross body strap, just like the Givenchy version, except this one is made of vegan leather. Since switching to a vegan diet, I’ve also started switching all my shoes, handbags, and accessories to cruelty-free versions. I especially love finding vegan versions of popular designer handbags. If you know of any, leave your suggestions in the comments below. 🙂
Hello and welcome to the new blog! I’m so excited to be creating this first post for Blasé Chic! One of the most chic wardrobe pieces in my closet are these gorgeous Saint Laurent sandals. Delicate straps juxtaposed with a thick platform and a sky high heel make these shoes one of my favorite pairs. I love wearing them with jeans and equally with shirt dresses for an effortlessly cool look.
In the previous post I wrote a little about changing my name, to my real one, when I relaunched the blog. When I started The F List, I created the name Jen De Marquez as a pen name. The “Jen” part came from my dad wanting to name me Jennifer when I was born. The “De Marquez” portion came from my maternal grandfather’s original surname before he changed it after immigrating to Mexico from Germany. Anyway, I feel the name does’t click with me so I’ll use one that does, my real name- Jeanette Padilla. I can’t wait to create more content that more aptly reflects this new direction I’m taking. I hope you all like it as much as I do.
These black cross strap cut out ankle boots by BCBGMAXAZRIA are perfection. Ankle boots or ankle booties, whatever you call them, in my opinion, are a closet staple. There are so many ways to wear them. Today I’m wearing mine with black coated skinny jeans. I love a great black pointed-toe boot. When paired with black pants, this style of boots will help elongate the legs and make you appear taller and slimmer.

Personally, I’ve never owned a cutout ankle boot before, I’d always opt for a regular black leather ankle bootie. However, this time around, I haven’t been able to find ankle boots that I like so I broadened my search and found these beauties. The cross strap and cut out design make them stand out and give them an edgy vibe. From the front, they appear to fully cover the foot which makes them great for pairing with pants. Conversely, the cut out sides give them the appearance of pumps, making them easy to pair with dresses and skirts. It’s a wonderfully versatile boot.
How to style ankle boots
Ankle boots can sometimes make the legs appear shorter. Sometimes you have to be careful how you style them based on your height and silhouette. Next week’s outfit post will feature these same boots paired with a skirt, and with a dress. I’ll be talking about proportions, dressing for your body type, sharing some tips on how to style ankle boots with anything, so stay tuned for that! If you like these boots, make sure to check them out and buy them asap! I got them a while back and they’ve already sold out in all department stores. Click the links below to shop.
When in doubt, wear black. I’ve been very eager to wear this Michael Kors leather jacket and it’s finally starting to cool down enough to do so. The soft, supple leather is amazing. I also love the matte-like finish of the leather, it lends a casual and effortlessly cool vibe. These cap toe boots are a favorite of mine even though I’m not a fan of short heels. I typically opt for a heel above 5 inches but the cap toe on these had me sold. I’m thinking about parting ways with them though, I really need a higher heel. Far from a traditional kimono, this one is, of course, a modern version. Traditional kimono are full length, T-shaped robes. I find kimono fascinating. There are various types of kimono, each one specific to the occasion. A kimono isn’t only a beautiful piece of cloth, it’s so much more than that. Kimono can symbolize social messages, marital status, age, and the level of formality of an occasion.
Dressing in a kimono also requires skill and is a process that requires aid since the outfit consists of 12 or more pieces that are secured in specific ways. Kimono are wrapped around the body with the left side over the right, always; except when dressing the deceased for burial. Then they are secured in place with a sash, also known as an obi. Some kimono are made with such exceptional skill and detail that they can easily cost upwards of $10,000.
Can someone tell me why basic black tee shirts are so hard to find? While I was looking for something a bit different, I adored this shirt as soon as I put it on. It’s A-line through the body with a scoop neck and has extra long sleeves. It’s also ridiculously lightweight and soft because its made of Japanese cotton. You’ll want to sleep in it and never take it off, don’t say I didn’t warn you. It’s perfection.
