Midi Sweater Dress

We spent this past weekend in Utah visiting family. The weather was fantastic as was the scenery. It’s so green and the mountain views are amazing; there are so many great spots for photo ops. While in Salt Lake City, I got a couple hours to hit up Nordstrom and check out the Nordstrom anniversary sale. Unfortunately, none of the items I purchased that day were on sale but I didn’t mind because I love them all. I’m obsessed with this midi sweater dress. The material is super soft and a great weight, it hugs the body without being clingy. The rectangular cut and arm stripes make it such a casual piece which I always love to pair with sky-high heels. Speaking of obsessions, I can’t get over these Saint Laurent sandals. I’ve been wearing them with everything lately and I don’t plan on stopping, they’re just so chic!

Summertime is the perfect time to play with colors and textures. This woven clutch by Vince Camuto has lots of both. I love clashing patterns, like this clutch and scarf. Mixing patterns can be tricky but if each item has pattern and/or color that picks up on another item then they’ll play well together because it still allows the outfit to flow. You’ll notice there are stripes in the dress, scarf, and clutch.

mesh-2 mesh-3 mesh-4 mesh-5 mesh-6 mesh-1I’m currently completely obsessed with these decorative bralettes from Free People, they are so gorgeous! I typically pin a low cut top like this so it doesn’t accidentally fall open. But having a decorative bralette underneath just slightly peaking out is so fun. They’re so delicate and beautiful. I definitely like this option better than pinning the shirt because pinning the soft delicate material leaves a small mark, which is no good. Also, how awesome are these Gucci sandals? I can’t believe I haven’t photographed them sooner. They go with literally everything.

Military overcoat

This military overcoat is one of my favorite pieces from my wardrobe. The fabric is heavy and has a velvety-like texture to it, it’s such a luxe piece. This coat doesn’t see the outside of my closet too often because it’s never cold enough to wear it. These past few weeks have been chilly though so I decided it was time to take it for a walk. I love the subtle details of this coat. This is one of those investment pieces that I never get tired of seeing. There are so many cool military overcoats out there, it’s hard to choose from all the different styles. The navy color and the subdued details drew me to this particular one because it’s simple enough to wear over any outfit but it still has some texture and cool details.

The past few days have just flown by! New projects, furniture shopping, and work have me feeling dizzy! While it’s exhausting me to pieces, it’s also quite exciting. I can’t wait to share some fun new things I’m working on from some of my favorite Etsy shops, it’s going to be so good! We shot these images this past Saturday and I wasn’t able to get them up until now because I’ve been planning and shopping for the house. I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year so I have one month to fill my new house with furniture, decorate it, and tackle the ever increasing chaotic mess that is my home office; all while maintaining my current work flow. The anxiety is kicking in just thinking about it. Getting back to these images, it was late in the day when we decided to shoot these. We were so stretched for time but were able to get a bit of light as the sun was setting. That’s why the first image looks so different from the rest. Even though we were so pressed for time, I just had to shoot these shoes. I found them on Poshmark. They’re by Yves Saint Laurent, one of my favorite designers. These little gems are my new obsession and I can’t wait to style them again.

tory-burch-6You may recall I purchased these Tory Burch “Lolita” pumps a little while back. I finally got around to styling them. They are so comfortable despite having a 4 inch heel. Anytime I see an even remotely vampy-looking shoe I think it will be uncomfortable, but I’ve noticed that is not the case with Tory Burch shoes. What can I say, they’re just so well made.

It’s officially June! This means two things: summer is just a few weeks away, and the heat is coming! Tie dye prints and summer go hand in hand. I love tie dye maxi dresses and flowy, bohemian tie dye tops. However, it’s hard to not look like a hippie when wearing tie dye.  I bought this tie dye pencil skirt from James Perse a little while back because I just thought it was cool. It’s been sitting in my closet because I wasn’t quite sure how to style it. I felt like the tie dye pattern was really fun but because of the pencil shape I was at a standstill. How should I style an oh-so-soft, relaxed print with a dressier silhouette? I’m quite pleased with the result.

I feel like I’m on a mission when I’m out looking for the perfect black pumps. After days, weeks or even months when I do find the right ones, it’s like I’ve discovered the holy grail. The best part is these aren’t ridiculously expensive. I must warn you though, before you go looking for them, they also come in red, nude and a few other colors. Hold on to your pocketbook!

We shot these a few days ago and it was a particularly warm day with a light cool breeze. Today, spring really is here. Well, according to our calendars it is. However, these greyish skies have me convinced otherwise. Get it together Las Vegas. I was expecting to hear birds singing and see the beautiful rays of the sun shining down poking holes through beautifully photoshopped-like skies. It’s alright, I’m leaving again for California tomorrow and I hear spring is in full throttle there.

Thanks to the movie Mean Girls all I can think of when I see bright pink is Amanda Seyfried’s character saying, “On Wednesday’s we wear pink!”. Shortly after, “You can’t sit with us!” pops into my head and before I know it I find myself watching the movie in complete awe of Tina Fey’s comedic genius.
