Midi Skirt & Leopard Print Look + The Trick to Wearing Anything & Everything Well

Sweater: Topshop (similar here) | Skirt: James Perse | Shoes: Miss Lola (similar here)

Bag: DSW | Beret: Charlotte Russe (similar here & here)

I love a good leopard print piece. While my beret has been sold out, I linked two other similar options that are also cruelty-free and wool-free. I love styling berets because they’re such fun pieces and it takes me back to my time in France. This is really such an easy piece to wear; the main thing you need to remember about styling a beret is wearing it with confidence. Actually, that’s the trick to wearing most things, really.

Think about when you see a model strutting down the runway in her stilettos, her hair whisked back by the force of her body confidently cutting through the air. She looks cool, confident, and pretty much fearless. Now think about a girl wobbling in her heels as she walks down the street, uncertain whether or not she’ll make it to the next step or fall flat on her face. I’ve seen a lot of the former here in Las Vegas on the strip late at night as girls try their best to keep going in their heels even though they’re clearly in pain. I digress, but if that’s ever been you, girl, take your heels off and walk tall.

Did you know a lot of those models on the runway often wear shoes that are a size or two too small for their feet? Yep. Yet, they still walk with such unbelievable confidence because that’s what sells the look. So, next time you’re unsure about how to wear something just remember to wear it with confidence and be your stylish little self.

I can’t end this post without mentioning this chain link satchel. It’s made of faux leather and it’s the most gorgeous shade of cognac. I’ve been showing it on my Instagram feed and stories and so many of you saved it and some of you even purchased it, yay! It comes in three colors and it’s a really versatile piece. Also, the quality of this vegan leather is amazing.  Both the top handle and the cross body strap are detachable. I love the hardware on it too, it’s got such a good weight to it so it feels more high-end than it’s $50 price point. It comes in three colors: cognac, black, and bone.

Midi Skirt and Crop Top Look | Makeup Giveaway Winner Announced

Top: Forever 21 | Jacket: H&M (from last year, similar here and here) | Skirt: James Perse | Shoes: Target (old, similar here and here) | Purse: Forever 21

I totally cheated at wearing this crop top, lol. This is how to wear a crop tops without baring your midsection. I love a crop top paired with a midi skirt. The trick to not baring your midsection is choosing a high-waisted skirt or even high waisted jeans. This knit top is so soft, lightweight, and the fabric has a nice swing to it. It feels luxe but it was under $10 from Forever21! I’m also loving this woven straw purse. It’s so cute and perfect for spring/summer outfits. I swear it goes with everything and its faux leather so it’s cruelty free! I’ve been wearing it non stop. It looks small but it can hold quite a bit.

Thank you all who entered my makeup giveaway! I wish you all could win! I will be doing more giveaways so stay tuned for that. Cat-Eye Heart Shaped Sunglasses Trend | The Blog is Back

Sunglasses: Fashion Nova (sold out but identical pair here, here, and here) | Lipstick: Kat Von D (in outlaw) | Lipstick Liner: Kat Von D (in outlaw) | Shirt: James Perse | Jeans: Gap (similar here, here, and here) | Cardigan: old (similar here) | Shoes: Fashion Nova ( similar here and here) | Purse: INC (similar) | Purse hankerchief: Anthropologie (similar)

Ok, first things first, how cute are these cat-eye heart shaped sunglasses??? I’m obsessed with them and I want to wear them with everything! This cat-eye heart shaped sunglasses trend started mid-late 2017 and seems to be trending even more now. I’m not surprised. The cat-eye shape just screams SUMMERTIME and this silhouette creates a slimming effect for the face. Plus the heart shaped frames are just so cute and fun! I love heart shapes on clothing and heart shaped accessories (ie: my heart baseball hat, my newest t-shirt ), so I’m loving this trend and kind of hoping it never ends.

The ones I’m wearing are dupes of the Saint Laurent version which retail for $420! Even with the higher price point, the Saint Laurent Lou Lou sunglasses are still selling out. I’ve linked the dupe sunglasses here and they come in a 2 pack, one red and one white; the white ones really do go with everything. To purchase these sunglasses on Amazon, click here.

Comfy Casual Weekend Outfit

black-and-white-casual-weekend-outfitThis is one of my go-to outfits: drawstring bottoms with a tank top and a comfy sandal. This time I opted for all black to make a casual but put-together outfit and a lightweight top to protect my skin from the sun. These James Perse tank tops are the best, they come in a bunch of different colors, they’re soft, stretchy, and they last forever. I’ve had some for over 4 years now.

Those following for a while know that I love James Perse dresses! They are so comfortable, stretchy, soft, flattering, breathable, and versatile. It’s going to sound like and ad (it’s not) but you can wear them all year ’round and style them a variety of ways. The breathability of these cotton dresses is fantastic. I even wear my midi length dress during the Las Vegas summer and I don’t feel like I’m going to pass out from heat stroke. They really keep you cool.

As for this jacket, didn’t I say I was obsessed with it? I’ve been wearing it practically every day. It’s the best denim jacket I’ve ever found and it’s under $40! There’s still a good selection of sizes so grab yours while you can! It’s also breathable and the material is soft, stretchy, and stays cool. I’ve been wearing it in 100-degree weather to keep my arms and shoulders from being charred. So far, it’s been a success.

Lastly, I have to mention these wedges. They’re so comfortable! And they’re under $35! Whaaat? Yep. If you want to make your legs look longer, these are the perfect espadrille wedges for you, my friend. Also, these wedges go with everything! They’re perfect for summer.

Every woman should know about James Perse dresses, whether pregnant or not. While James Perse dresses are not maternity dresses, they are so incredibly soft, comfortable, and stretchy; making them the perfect pregnancy dresses. When I found out I was pregnant I really thought I was going to have to buy a whole set of maternity clothes. Luckily, I already had several James Perse dresses so I’ve literally only purchased 4 items of maternity clothes- 3 pairs of maternity leggings and 1 pair of maternity jeans from Target- that’s all.

I first discovered James Perse dresses when I worked for them at Ceasar’s Palace. I became an immediate fan of the label. That man really knows his fabrics. He creates the most luxurious, soft, stretchy, cotton fabrics you will ever wear. The dresses are flattering on all shapes and sizes whether you’re a size 0 or a size 14. We would constantly have pregnant women in the store shopping. Many of them would say they never bothered buying maternity clothes because they always wore James Perse and the clothes would fit perfectly pre-pregnancy, during, and after; that thought always stuck in my head. Another reason I absolutely love these dresses is their versatility; they can go from day to night with a simple change of shoes and accessories.

Lately, I’ve been leaning more towards light neutral colors instead of my usual all-black attire. I went on a small neutrals-only shopping binge a little while back but have yet to wear much of it. This dolman sleeve tunic dress is super soft and lightweight. I got this from the James Perse sample sale a few months back (it’s a great sale, btw) and this is the first time I’ve worn it. It wrinkles super easily, which keeps me from wanting to wearing it but I love the oversized cut and wide dolman sleeves; it’s just so effortlessly chic.

Cocoon

A mini storm rolled into Henderson this past weekend. Well, “mini storm” may be too heavy of a description, it was more like an itty bitty mini storm but a storm nonetheless. The slight chill, intense wind, and overcast sky had me craving this cocoon wrap by Free People. I love the super oversized shape, it makes for a very relaxed and easy look.

It began to rain when we were in the middle of shooting this look so you may notice some rain drops here and there. Then the lightning got a little too close and crazy for me so we decided to wrap it up. Most of the shots we got were wild hair in the air shots and the ones where my hair looked ok had the wrap looking like a fully deployed parachute—thanks wind. You can get the this wrap by Free People on sale now!

Hello and welcome to the new blog! I’m so excited to be creating this first post for Blasé Chic!  One of the most chic wardrobe pieces in my closet are these gorgeous Saint Laurent sandals. Delicate straps juxtaposed with a thick platform and a sky high heel make these shoes one of my favorite pairs. I love wearing them with jeans and equally with shirt dresses for an effortlessly cool look.

In the previous post I wrote a little about changing my name, to my real one, when I relaunched the blog. When I started The F List, I created the name Jen De Marquez as a pen name. The “Jen” part came from my dad wanting to name me Jennifer when I was born. The “De Marquez” portion came from my maternal grandfather’s original surname before he changed it after immigrating to Mexico from Germany. Anyway, I feel the name does’t click with me so I’ll use one that does, my real name- Jeanette Padilla. I can’t wait to create more content that more aptly reflects this new direction I’m taking. I hope you all like it as much as I do.

Black and Nude

mesh-2 mesh-3 mesh-4 mesh-5 mesh-6 mesh-1I’m currently completely obsessed with these decorative bralettes from Free People, they are so gorgeous! I typically pin a low cut top like this so it doesn’t accidentally fall open. But having a decorative bralette underneath just slightly peaking out is so fun. They’re so delicate and beautiful. I definitely like this option better than pinning the shirt because pinning the soft delicate material leaves a small mark, which is no good. Also, how awesome are these Gucci sandals? I can’t believe I haven’t photographed them sooner. They go with literally everything.
