The Perfect Chunky Knit Sweater for Fall

Dress (also here) | Cardigan | Shoes | Bag | Shapewear

Hey guys, if you recall I shared this cardigan in my Instagram stories last week and said I’d be sharing it as an outfit soon. Well, here it is. I present to you THE BEST cardigan for fall. This is one of the outfits we shot in Pasadena this past week. By the way, can I just say how much I love Pasadena? The weather was a perfect 86 degrees and as the sun went down, we were greeted by a light cool breeze. The city is so picturesque and two of my favorite things are that it’s the home of the Huntington Library and it also offers a wide variety of vegan dining options— one of my faves is Real Food Daily (yelp them!).

Ok, now let me tell ya about this cardi. This chunky knit oversized cardigan is super soft, cozy, and best of all, it’s wool-free! I can not tell you how hard it is to find chunky knit cardigans for fall and winter. It seems like 90% of all cardigans manufactured are made with wool or other animal materials. For as long as I could remember, I’ve been allergic to wool. I had always loved chunky knit oversized cardigans made of wool. They looked so warm and cozy but I wouldn’t even dare try them on because the times I did, my skin would become so irritated. It wasn’t until I worked at James Perse that I found out I wasn’t allergic to cashmere, so I started buying that. Then last year, I went vegan and slowly started eliminated all animal products from my wardrobe, including all my cashmere pieces. So now when I find a really well made, chunky knit cardigan that’s not made of wool or animal materials, I immediately jump on it. This is one of those pieces. The material is a little heavy, but not in a bad way, it has the perfect weight to it. I love the oversized fit and it has pockets! It also has beautiful movement and pairs equally as well with jeans and a tee. If you buy one cardigan this fall, I would suggest investing in this piece! I’m OBSESSED with it!

Twist Front Midi Dress

Dress: Zara (sold out, similar here, here, and here) | Shoes: Callisto | Bag: Amazon | Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters | Earrings: vintage (similar here) Lipstick: Kat Von D (a go-go) | Lip liner: Kat Von D (a go-go)

Summer has officially arrived but I didn’t need a calendar to tell me that. No, here in Las Vegas, the temperature was already crossing the 100-degree mark well before June 21st. While I’m loving the longer daylight hours, I’m not really a fan of this 110-degree weather; but I am loving all of the cute summer dresses I found at Fashion Show Mall last week. This dress is from Zara but it’s already sold out! I can see why, it is SO comfortable. I’m keeping a lookout to see if gets restocked because now that I’ve worn it I want to buy another. Plus it was only $29! I’ll let you guys know if it comes back in stock. I’ve linked other similar dresses with the cute twist front detail.

Is there anything more summery than a bright orange lip? I’m loving this color from Kat Von D, it really pops and goes so well with just about everything. I’m wearing the color “a go-go” in both the liquid lipstick and the lip liner. Did you know Kat Von D is vegan? Yep, she is, and so is her makeup line. The entire line is vegan and cruelty-free! Ok lastly, I also have to mention how awesome these wedges are. They are super comfortable and they go with everything! The come in tan and black and they’re made of vegan leather. They do run large so I advise sizing down by a whole size.

Oh and I almost forgot about one of my favorite items! I can’t end this post without mentioning one of my favorite pieces of shapeware. These Spanx mid-thigh shaper shorts are one of the best pieces of shape wear I’ve ever worn, and trust me, I’ve tried a lot. They’re so comfortable to wear, even in 110 degree weather. They’re breathable, lightweight, they stay in place and perfectly smooth everything out but don’t make you feeling like they’re squeezing the life out of you (lol), and they don’t have that annoying plastic trim on the inside thigh seam like other shapers do. I highly recommend them! They come in black and nude.

Valentino Rockstud Date Night Outfit

Dress: James Perse | Coat: Forever21 (similar) | Shoes: Valentino | Purse: INC International Concepts (on sale under$50!) | Sunglasses: McQ (similar) | Bracelets: Nordstrom (similar)

I love this outfit for a date night or (in my case) a night out having dinner and drinks with girlfriends. This James Perse dress is one of my favorites. The fabric is soft and stretchy and the midi length makes it perfect to dress up. Isn’t this bag so perfect for dressing up an outfit? It may look familiar if you like YSL handbags. This purse is very similar to the YSL Monogram bag but only a fraction of the price! It comes in this nude color as well as black, and they’re on sale! I bought both colors, naturally. 😉

These Valentino rockstud pumps are the best. I love wearing them with just about everything. They make a simple jeans and white tee outfit look cool and edgy. When paired with a casual midi dress, they instantly elevate the look to a chic and night-out-ready-look.

A good trick to starting off your week on the right foot is a great outfit you feel good in. Mondays can be a drag so dress in one of your favorite outfits, have a green smoothie (energizing nutrients, yay!) and start your week right. I once read in an issue of Vogue a quote that really stayed with me, “Dress up to cheer up”. This really works! Clothes can totally transform the way you think and feel. Like when you wear your little black dress, you know, the one that hugs you in all the right places and makes your legs look a mile long. So dress up! I do every chance I get because when you have a 4 month-old baby and you work from home, you’re most likely gonna be wearing yoga pants and a drool-covered t-shirt a large portion of the time. If I’m being honest, my shirt is currently covered in spit up (and my yoga pants too) as I type this, lol.

Calvin Klein Lace Up Sandals

It’s been nearly 7 weeks since my baby was born. At times, it feels like it’s been much longer but conversely, time seems to be flying by. My wardrobe didn’t really change after birth, I’m still living in James Perse dresses. I got these Calvin Klein sandals a few months ago, I had completely forgotten about them. They’re now on sale for under $50! Diaper changing, spit up wiping, and baby’s laundry tend to eclipse the day, leaving little to no time for putting together outfits. I have several other items I’m really excited to shoot (if I ever find the time, lol).

Every woman should know about James Perse dresses, whether pregnant or not. While James Perse dresses are not maternity dresses, they are so incredibly soft, comfortable, and stretchy; making them the perfect pregnancy dresses. When I found out I was pregnant I really thought I was going to have to buy a whole set of maternity clothes. Luckily, I already had several James Perse dresses so I’ve literally only purchased 4 items of maternity clothes- 3 pairs of maternity leggings and 1 pair of maternity jeans from Target- that’s all.

I first discovered James Perse dresses when I worked for them at Ceasar’s Palace. I became an immediate fan of the label. That man really knows his fabrics. He creates the most luxurious, soft, stretchy, cotton fabrics you will ever wear. The dresses are flattering on all shapes and sizes whether you’re a size 0 or a size 14. We would constantly have pregnant women in the store shopping. Many of them would say they never bothered buying maternity clothes because they always wore James Perse and the clothes would fit perfectly pre-pregnancy, during, and after; that thought always stuck in my head. Another reason I absolutely love these dresses is their versatility; they can go from day to night with a simple change of shoes and accessories.

I look like I’m ready to pop, don’t I? That’s because I am! Baby should be here in about a week if she decides to stick to the schedule. Pregnancy leggings have become the go-to article of clothing for everyday wear. So much so in fact, that I had to throw out a pair yesterday after I noticed the seams starting to come apart at the groin. I wonder how long I had been wearing them like that before I finally noticed. I wonder if anyone else noticed- oops! Luckily I have plenty of stretchy dresses to get me through the rest of this pregnancy. This particular one is so comfy and super stretchy. It’s sold out but I linked to a similar one above.

Black Ribbed Midi Dress

How cute is this little faux-fur puff charm? I absolutely loved Chanel’s “Karlito” and Fendi’s monster purse charms when I first saw them but the use of real fur was a big turnoff so I knew I wouldn’t be buying one. I had put it out of my mind but during a recent trip to Target I was passing by the accessories aisle and I spotted this faux-fur purse charm for $10 (also comes in navyblack and burgundy), it was a no-brainer. Kate Spade also makes some cute faux-fur purse charms.

Lake Las Vegas, beautiful all year ’round.

I’m beyond excited to share this dress with you guys. Midi dresses are some of my favorite pieces. Then length is so elegant and the material of this one is casual enough to be paired with sandals, flats, or heels; it’s super versatile. When we shot this look it was sunny but chilly so I opted for a cashmere cardigan from Donna Karan. I love any dress with YSL’s Tribute sandals, they instantly elevate any outfit. Later that day, after a few hours of errands, I switched to nude ballet flats but kept everything else the same and the look still worked.

Finding the line between casual, comfortable, and chic is the basis for the majority of my outfits. Versatility in every piece is very important to me so that’s what can be expected from my clothing line. This ribbed midi dress will be available for purchase a little later this month along with the rest of my collection.

Dolce and Gabbana Hoop Earrings

When I spotted the earrings in today’s post, they instantly reminded me a Dolce & Gabbana ad. They look like they could be family heirlooms but they most definitely are not. I found them at Nordstrom Rack, which as I’ve shared before, has a fantastic selection of jewelry. The Dolce & Gabbana-like feel of these earrings made me think of Italy and of the cool, sexy style Italian women wear so effortlessly. So I opted for this little black dress with a wide Elizabethan-type neckline.
