We’re still in Utah and it’s been pretty chilly the past few days. I was looking forward to the cooler weather so I packed these over the knee boots and this cozy, knit cardigan. You guys, these boots are THE best. If you’re like me and have a really hard time finding over-the-knee boots because you have gigantic calves, then these are the boots for you. They stretch a lot but aren’t loose at the top and the half zipper on the back makes them super easy to put on. These are hands down my favorite boots. I also love the thick heel, they give you a little more support and makes them quite comfortable.
Last week, when we shot this look, the chill of winter had yet to set in. I was warm and cozy with my knit tunic and cable knit scarf. These days, I’ll definitely be throwing on a coat over this. Freezing temperatures make me want for nothing more than to curl up with a good book and a warm drink- this was the inspiration behind this look. You guys won’t believe it but I found this book purse clutch at Marshall’s for $7, for realz. I pop into Marshall’s every now and then just to browse. About 95% of the time find something I really love. I get a large portion of my kitchenware from there as well as home decor finds, clothing, and accessories, of course. These MIH jeans are also a Marshall’s find! I’m new to MIH but have found the extra long length (5′ 10″ and wearing 5″ heels!) and curve-hugging stretchy-ness of these jeans amazing. I’ve been perusing MIH online to grab a couple more styles.
Fall is in full swing now here in Las Vegas and I’m all about these over the knee boots. I’ve been wearing them with everything. These particular boots are by Via Spiga. They have a suede-like hand feel and are very stretchy. I’m also a fan of Stuart Weitzman’s 5050 boot which very closely resembles this Via Spiga pair in both look and fit. Finding boots that fit my calves is nearly impossible so if you have this problem too, either one of these will work really well for you.
Yesterday on Instagram I mentioned an announcement. I’m so excited to share with you guys that I’ll be launching a small clothing line on Etsy this fall! That’s the main reason behind my lack of posts these past 2 months. I’ve been designing, sourcing, and creating everything myself. It hasn’t been easy but it’s been a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it when it goes live later this month. You can expect cool, casual, chic, and comfortable pieces (think Vince and James Perse with a touch of Donna Karan) in subtle tones for this first collection. Stay tuned 🙂
In celebration of the boyfriend’s birthday we are going on a cruise! It’s a great way to forget how old you’re getting, haha. On a more serious note, I have not packed a thing and we leave in a few hours. I did however, prepare myself by making this pretty packing visual “list”! These are my staple pieces I am definitely bringing. Why is there a cardigan, a shrug and a long sleeve top you ask? Great question! You can put your hand down now. Weather forecasts tend to be unreliable and I’m really counting on that because I’m seeing cloudy skies and rain for almost the entire trip! We’re going to Mexico by the way, why is the sun on vacation this week?! For this reason, I prepared light tops that I can layer over a dress or wear with pants and other basic pieces in case it gets a little too cool.
Two more things I have to mention. There was no paid advertisement, trust me. I just loooooooove these two particular items. First is the Furla hobo handbag. This one is almost identical to one I bought a few years back on my first trip to Paris. It was the one and only souvenir I brought home. A few years later and it’s still spectacular and looks exactly the same even though I use it nearly every single day. The quality, of course, is superb. It’s simple but luxe. The one I listed however has a second strap so it can be worn cross-body which is fantastic and super useful when traveling. I may just add this one to my collection just because of that extra strap! Lastly, I have to rave about the extra wide brim hats by San Diego Hat Company. They are so beautiful and fit perfectly in any beach or poolside setting. These in particular are really wide and oh so well made; if you’re only going to buy one sun hat this summer, make sure it’s this one.
